![]() I am going to download some applications to my desktop to see if I can drag them into my dock, as you say I can, and as I used to do. As to what I mean by "icon," I mean those little figures/pictures/symbols that stand for Real Player, or any other file or application. As to the left of the vertical line, the icons just wouldn't stay where I dragged them to (The left side of the vertical line on the dock). I wanted to do this so that I would have room to drag the icon down to the dock on the right side of the vertical line. I thought I remembered being able to move the vertical line you mention to the left or right, but it wouldn't go. I say "again," because when I tried to slip one icon past the TRASH icon, i failed, and it went into the TRASH. In answer to your comments, I no longer have any icons on my desktop, so I can't test your suggestions again. I thought it was OS 9, but whatever it was, I used to be able to easily make the icons on my desktop part of my Dock. If they are Applications just drag them from your Applications folder to Dock, it creates the alias. Your OS 9 had a Dock? It was ahead of it's time! What do you mean by desktop icons? If they are files or folders they go to the right of the hair line on the Trash side of the Dock.
